Chug along with Train Sim World 2 and the Clinchfield Railroad

We’ve enjoyed the stunning Swiss scenery, we’ve gone Underground through London and we’ve taken the scenic route around the Isle of Wight. Now though it’s all about chugging on through the darkest, deepest coal mines as we take a trip to Virginia with the new Train Sim World 2: Clinchfield Railroad.

Giving us the chance to move some of the heaviest coal and freight services through the Appalachian Mountains, the Train Sim World 2: Clinchfield Railroad DLC will have you getting down and dirty with some new challenges. Set in the heart of Virginia’s coalfields, the latest DLC for Train Sim World 2 gives access to the EMD F7 and SD40 diesel locos, all liveried up in the colours and style of the Clinchfield Railroad.

This latest DLC comes with a £24.99 price tag attached from the Xbox Store, and whilst that would initially seem like a hefty price to pay for any new downloadable content drop, it’s pretty much in line with everything else that has been drip-fed out to both the original Train Sim World and Train Sim World 2 over the months and years. You should therefore be totally on board with what Dovetail are providing here – don’t expect a quick one and done hit, this is some content that will have you chugging along for some time.

You will obviously need the base game of Train Sim World 2 to hand prior to establishing a download of the Clinchfield Railroad: Elkhorn – Dante line. Chances are though that if you’re reading this, you knew that already. If you didn’t, well, it’s available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC right now.

As always let us know in the comments if this is the type of DLC you want to see more of.

DLC Description:

Experience classic railroading moving heavy coal and manifest freight through the heart of Virginia’s coalfields with Train Sim World 2: Clinchfield Railroad. Often called “The Rio Grande of the East” for its spectacular scenery and challenging mountain railroading, the Clinchfield (which is now CSX’s Kingsport Subdivision) was both an extraordinary coal hauler and a busy and vital bridge line for manifest freight traffic, providing a link between the Chesapeake & Ohio on its north end and the Seaboard Coast Line in the south. It’s your job to take charge of the heavy coal and manifest freight services through the rugged Appalachian Mountains, utilising the instantly recognisable EMD F7 and SD40 diesel locomotives, dressed in the vibrant and coal dust-coated Clinchfield Railroad livery.
